'Get your Community Growing' Workshop - Growing to Cook Thurso

18 August 2023

Starts: 10:00
Ends: 14:00

Friday 18 August  10.00 - 2.00  Thurso Grows community garden

Aimed at those involved in a community food growing project, this is a great opportunity to be inspired to make best use of your precious harvest and connect with the community growing network facilitated by the Highland Good Food Partnership.

Have fun learning at the diverse and successful project Thurso Grows:

  • Inspire and increase confidence in your community to eat locally
  • How to make sure nothing goes to waste, how to share gluts
  • Community gatherings to enjoy harvests
  • Opportunity to engage in a practical activity, such as harvesting, cooking, prepping food
  • A good lunch 😉

Beginning the day at the beautiful Thurso Grows Community garden, you'll enjoy a tour of the garden and a chance to share experiences in growing, harvesting and cooking with your communities.

After a lovely lunch at the gardens, you'll take a tour of the other elements in the town, such as the sharing shed, that allow Thurso Grows to share its produce widely.

The walk between the gardens and town is approximately 15 minutes each way / between projects, so there is a fair amount of walking in the day, please advise us if you have any mobility issues, so we can plan for transport support.

Please let us know of any allergies or food intolerances when booking.

The following day, on Saturday 19th of August Thurso Grows have their volunteer session at the gardens (10.30am – 12.30pm) and you can join Sharon for a short tour of the Greenhouses project in the town (12.30pm - 1.15pm). If you wanted to attend these in your own time, you are welcome.
